This braces system provides a means of low friction mechanics that has had a major impact on conventional orthodontic treatment. The Damon System™ braces allow your teeth to move more comfortably and easily than with traditional braces.  Achieving a perfect smile will be faster and easier than you ever thought possible.   The use of a light force is not only sufficient to move a tooth but it also facilitates more healthy tooth movement. Regular braces use elastic rings to hold the wires in place.  These rings grab the wire like brakes and prevent each brace from sliding easily along the wire.  A heavier force must be applied to overcome the friction and binding and to generate tooth movement. A sliding door on the Damon braces holds the wire in place but allows the braces (which are attached to the teeth) to slide freely.  Because friction is reduced, lower forces are necessary.  Your teeth will move more quickly and comfortably throughout treatment. These drawings illustrate why it is necessary for the wire to slide easily through the braces so that a tooth can move into alignment.  If the wire cannot slide, the tooth remains locked out of place. The Damon System™ couples advanced technology and metallurgy and allows us to combine the new bracket systems with space-age alloy orthodontic wires that provide the lower force levels.
